Starfish Gluten Free Biggest Fan

Biggest Fan

Four year old Heather attended the Gluten Free Vendor Fair in Roswell, Georgia on Saturday October 17. When she came across the Starfish Gluten Free booth and saw our packages exclaimed to her mother, Jennifer, “Mommy that’s my fish”!   Jennifer Harris (GF Product Specialists) of Return to Eden, and a sponsor of the Fair, says that Heather calls Starfish Gluten Free Battered fish the “best fish in the world”, Haddock being her favorite.

We received this picture from Dr. Ginger Carter PH.D., better known as celiac advocate and blogger extraordinaire, Gluten Free in Georgia (and Florida). She sent Heathers picture via her iPhone during the Fair. Ginger was manning the Starfish booth as we were not able to make the trip. Thank you Dr. Ginger! Ginger says she is our “biggest fan” but she may have to share that claim with Heather. Ginger tells us that the Fair was attended by 1,000 or more folk. Wow, outstanding.

We hear from Celiac’s and others often with similar comments, but this picture is the thousand word type. Starfish R & D Director, Eric Larsen, worked on this batter for nearly 3 years to get a batter that was as good as or better than traditional batters. As those of you that have eaten Gluten Free for years know that is quite a feat for some items. After all why should those with Celiac Disease be punished twice, by the disease and than having to suffer eating yucky food?  Believe me when I say that we ate some pretty awful prototypes to get to today’s final product.

Eric’s tenacity to get just the right texture, flavor and quality was unbelievable. Some told us we couldn’t create a product as good as wheat based products. But guess what, we think our Gluten Free is better and so do many retailers that have sold our traditional battered products for years.
“So good you want believe its Gluten Free”

Anyway, Heather, thank you for reminding us why we did this and for whom. Thanks Dr. Ginger for your support and help always. Hopefully someday we will meet you, in Georgia (or Florida) of course.

Try this one, for the Halibut

Heehee. I made a funny. Oh, and it’s Friday, so I’m writing about GREAT fish! Starfish Gluten Free Halibut also passed the Ging Taste Test. Even Jeffrey loved it — we actually fought over the last piece of fish!

Actually, this is an update on the wonderful breaded fish I wrote about earlier in the week, from the wonderful folks at Starfish. I got a handful of questions answered by Eric Larsen, the company’s wonderful representative.

For instance:

These fish products are not from China. I know a lot of people are wary of the products from China, but Eric assured me the fist comes from the north Pacific and North Atlantic.

The cost depends on the fish. The halibut, which is mighty tasty, is a bit pricier than the cod and haddock. The cod and haddock run in the neighborhood of $6, and the halibut is about twice that cost.

You can find these products for now at Whole Foods, But there’s good stuff in the works…I can’t disclose now, but I’ll share when I can.

BTW, check out my GF brother from another mother’s (aka Gluten Free Steve’s) review of this product. See? It’s not just me. This product is getting rave reviews!

Oh, and I might just have some coupons available for you readers in a couple of days. Stay tuned!

Halibut3DBoxPresentationStarfish is finally on the bloggosphere and look forward to communicating with the Seafood World which of course includes our niche’, the Gluten Free World.
We have a lot to talk about and invite you to join us. If you aren’t familiar with Starfish we are a Value Added Seafood company that specializes in healthy alternatives to the run of the mill products on the market. If you like shrimp you’ll love our Just Grilled line up of fully cooked and fire grilled, yeah that’s right FIRE GRILLED! No one else has ever done this before. So flavorful, easy and versatile.
In addition we have Gluten Free Battered Fish like no one else, meaning ours is a pleasure to eat and you don’t need to be on a special diet of wheat free or gluten free to enjoy it. It’s just healthy and tastes good too.
We also have a great lineup “Classic Recipe” Battered fish products too, like Halibut, Cod and Haddock. This is our main stay line and you can find these all natural products at your Whole Foods type stores.
We are going to have recipes and prep tips from our R & D guru Eric Larsen, who by education and trade is a chef, yeah a real chef which is the reason Starfish products taste so good. They are developed by a chef not a scientist, don’t get me wrong we like scientists but to create rockets and ipods and stuff but prefer a chef cooking our meals. Of course we might just be weird about that.JGS Scampi Artichoke
We also will announce our new products right here as they come. We have some on the kitchen table now and soon to announce and you won’t be dissapponted, we guarantee it.
Starfish has been around since the ’90′s and have developed a brand following and consumer base that always expects the best from us. We also have a website that is currently under construction to reflect all the new stuff going on.
But the Gluten Free products are what is really getting attention. You’ll see a lot of new products coming and links and comments from the Celiac Disease (Gluten Free) community.
